Se aduc la fierbere 140 ml de apă per servire, apoi se iau de pe foc și se amestecă cu două lingurițe de cafea. Se lasă acoperit până la 7 minute pentru extracție, apoi se toarnă în ceașcă încet pentru a evita zațul.
Filtrul produce o cafea mai limpede și mai puțin corpolentă față de ibric. Aici trebuie adăugată puțin mai multa cafea, după gustul fiecăruia. Dacă se ține mai mult pe plita filtrului, cafeaua capătă un gust de caramel.
Pentru espresso, cea mai bună extracție se face când cafeaua are o granulație fină. Prepararea la espressor va scoate în evidență aciditatea soiurilor arabica, care e completată de o aromă fructat-florală.
